Firstly, Thank you for buying my Tarot Journal template! I hope you love it as much as I do!
I made it because my own tarot 'journal' was just hideous scribbles in a random notebook in Goodnotes and it didn't make my practise feel special in any way, and I really needed to fix that.
Not the prettiest, is it? It doesn't exactly scream 'special spiritual / self reflection practise'. Desperate times call for my graphic designer hat to come out.
How it's structured
This isn't structured like my other journals - where you get a document that's loaded into goodnotes with all the pages linked together and you just have to swipe to move onto the next one. Tarot has many different spread styles and one size doesn't fit all for documenting them.
So instead, this journal is made up of individual 'sheets' in order to give your more flexibility in how your journal is put together.
1) The cover
2) Daily draw page - for however you choose to do your daily draw which I believe for most people is either a single card, a three card spread, or a mix of some tarot and oracle cards. You can take a photo of your spread for a record and put them in the frame on the page and explore their meaning below
3) The Celtic Cross page - for in-depth readings about a specific issue. Again there's a frame space there to take a photo of your cards if you wish or notation of their positions. There's also a list of what each card represents. I constantly forget what each card is for so the headings are listed there as a basic structure for you to use and explore the meanings.
4) A journal page. This can be for anything - actual regular journalling, riffing off what your readings give you - basically when you want more space to expand your thoughts based on your practise.
Thanks for the life story, now how do I use the thing?
Firstly, download the Tarot Journal from my Etsy shop if you haven't already.
Secondly, follow the steps below to install this as a template in Goodnotes.
How to install your Tarot journal template in Goodnotes
On the Goodnotes homepage, click the gear in the top right corner and select 'Notebook Templates'
You'll see two boxes on the top - the left will say 'default cover' and the right will say 'default paper'. Select 'Default Cover'
Hit the '+' On the top right of that window, and you'll get a popup saying 'New Group' with a space for you to enter the name of your new group. You will see a new group appear in the grey box below
Under your new group title, you'll see a blue cross with 'import' under it. Hit this, choose 'from files', navigate to the tarot journal cover image in your files and hit open.
Go to the top of that window again, and this time select 'default paper'
Repeat steps 3 &4, uploading the three page styles.
Go back to the main Goodnotes homepage, and select 'new' and then choose 'notebook'
On the top left, choose 'cover' and pick your tarot cover page. Then choose 'paper' and choose the tarot page style you will use the most frequently (probably the daily pulls) to be your default paper.
Name your journal and then hit 'Create'
Congrats! you now have a Tarot journal set up on Goodnotes to harvest all your daily pulls. Every time you swipe right, you'll get a new 'daily pull page'.
Hold up! What about if I want to do a Celtic Cross spread or add a journalling page?
Don't panic. Hit the 'new page' icon (top right - the page icon with the little plus sign in it) then choose 'more from templates' and choose the page you want to insert it. Easy.
Enjoy!

What decks are in your photos?

Classic Rider Waite tarot deck Urban Crow Oracle
Bottom Pic Tarot of Tales deck (modded - I cropped the top and bottom because they were too big to shuffle comfortably and am waiting for my corner rounder to arrive in the post to finish the job. But the artwork is gorgeous) The Green Witch's Oracle
